For those who make the trip to the southwest corner of Alberta, Waterton Lakes national park is truly unforgettable: unspoiled prairie grassland lined with rugged mountains that look as if they were dropped there by the hand of a giant.

I spent the weekend of July 22nd in Waterton national Park. Our family had a family reunion there. We camped in the Crandell Lake Camp ground. During the weekend, we visited Waterton township, Red Rock canyon and numerour hiking trails. We canoed and kayaked on the lake and ran across many different wild animals, including a Black bear with her two cubs, mountain goats, Mule Deer, and the usual smaller critters and birds.

For such a small park, there is such a diversity of wildlife there. That's why Waterton gets two thumb's up from Westworld. Next year, invite us to your reunion. Sounds like a great weekend.

On your recommendation, my partner and I just got back from Waterton. What a beautiful mountain park. I can't believe I didn't know this exsisted. Truly felt like a throwback to my childhood. We rented bikes and pedalled around town gaping at the charming houses. Hiked down to Glacier National Park. Dinner at Bel Lago was probably one of the best I've had all year. Thanks AMA. Can't wait for the next issue.
