Re: Idling is ineffective because it burns fuel, dilutes the composition of motor oil and damages engine components (including cylinders, spark plugs and exhaust system).
The only thing I agree with here is the exhaust... because every modern engine creates moisture which comes out the exhaust, and if the exhaust doesn't warm sufficiently it can start to rust from inside out... as for diluting motor oil, first I've heard of this, please explain. Cylinders/Spark plugs, highly unlikely to be damaged by idling. Otherwise, I'll continue to warm my car every morning until the temp meter starts to rise. Engines have numerous types of metals in them, and you're trying to tell me that they don't expand/contract at different rates, leading to possible failure of parts due to incorrect alignments etc... all this anti-idling to warm a car is merely about the environment...
